2024-2025 Recipients

August 31, 2024

Ho’omau Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit focused on the success and development of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPI). Our mission is to provide scholarships, mentorship, and networking opportunities to NHPI students who are active in the NHPI community. By combining the support for academic success and perpetuation of our culture, the foundation will help recipients succeed in their endeavors while maintaining and growing their cultural ties and identity.

Ho’omau Foundation is based in California but our reach is broad and all of the recipients are from the Hawaiian islands, Maui, O’ahu, Kaua’i, and Hawai’i. Many of our recipients are first-generation college students attending schools on different islands or on the mainland. Our recipients are studying Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Psychology, Hawaiian Studies, and Political Science with the intent of taking their education back to the lāhui (the tribe, community) and further perpetuating the NHPI culture and knowledge.

We raise our funds through individual donations, individual stock donations, corporate sponsors, and company matching programs because their values match ours. To be eligible for the scholarship, the individuals must be of NHPI decent, must be actively engaged in the NHPI community through language, dance, music, environmentally focused on native plants or native sustainability, and a US citizen attending a 2-year or 4-year college in the US and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Scholarships can be renewed if the student remains eligible.

Our Recipients are open to an interview to share their aspirations and how they are representing the NHPI community.
